Episode 1: Famous Food Trends for the Ages
We hope you enjoyed our first episode!
Here are a few things that didn’t make it into the final script:
-
Ted rejected this as a bonus question (probably with good reason) for Ranch dressing:
Ranch dressing has provided flavoring for a number of food products, such as chips and snack mixes. It also flavors a type of beverage. What is that beverage?
The answer is soda. A company called Lester’s Fixins Soda offers a ranch dressing soda, along with a number of other interesting food-flavored sodas.
-
We also had a question about State Fair food trends:
What do these 4 foods have in common?
-
Deep-fried Twinkies
-
Porkchops
-
Chocolate-covered bananas
-
Pickles
The answer is that they are all available on a stick.
-
Finally, we had a bonus question about Fondue parties:
What is the “bread-dropping” rule?
The answer is that people who accidentally drop their bread into the cheese have to pay some sort of playful penalty, such as singing a song or kissing someone at the table. However, since no one got it right in any of our test sessions, we consulted Nana and Poppa, who attended and hosted a number of fondue parties back in the day. Neither of them had ever heard of any such rule.
