Episode 6: Slang and Catchphrases for the Ages
This week's topic brought back memories... especially the CB Radio craze! I can remember sitting in my father's car in the late 1970s (I was 16-17 years old) and listening to the truckers. Occasionally I joined in; my handle was "The Piano Player."
Here are a couple of trivia questions about specific CB Radio terms:
- Truckers used coded language to protect their locations. What city was known as "Mouse Town?"
- What was a "pregnant roller skate?"
Answers:
- Mouse Town referred to Orlando, Florida (a Disney World reference).
- A pregnant roller skate was a VW Beetle.
